She enjoyed any opportunity to go somewhere and try something new.īetty loved her church family at Altamahaw Baptist church where she was a faithful member for over 60 years. She passed on to us her love of travel and leaves us memories of her adventurous spirit from her love of trips out West to visit the National Parks, hiking on glaciers in Alaska, riding camels on her trip to the Holy lands, exploring Europe and even riding whitewater rapids in her 80’s.
She had many stories of working in the tobacco fields on hot summer days, helping her momma and grandmas in the kitchen and riding to town in Model T and Model A Fords with her siblings and cousins. We will always remember her laughing and telling us not to step out of line or she would “whop us with a wet squirrel”.īetty loved to tell stories about her childhood growing up on the family farm with her siblings, William Leroy Underwood, Harry Genie Underwood, James “Jimmy” Steven Underwood (deceased) and Deborah Underwood Cox (Charles). By her example, she taught us to be kind, work hard, to give selflessly and always strive to do the right thing. She had one granddaughter, Charla Ireland Cozart (Christopher) and two great- grandsons, Christopher Hunter Cozart and Nicholas Paul Cozart, all who meant the world to her. With a loving heart she raised two daughters, Carol Edmonds and Diane Edmonds (deceased). A native of Caswell County, she was born to the late Genie Roy and Ruth Estelle Aldridge Underwood.
